Storylab – Tales Told Through Texture

Times Long Past

An exhibition of memory, material, and meaning

Times Long Past is a powerful body of work by Anne-Marie Hamilton, first created as her final project in 2024 while completing her Bachelor of Screen Arts at SIT. The exhibition explores themes of memory, heritage, and belonging through the textured language of frottage, printmaking, and sacred geometry.

Held a second time during Southland Heritage Month 2025 at The Cottage (Te Rau o Te Huia, Esk Street), the exhibition invited viewers into an intimate space where past and present meet. At its heart is The Box of Promise—an interactive installation where visitors contribute personal promises that will become a permanent part of the evolving work.

Times Long Past - Auld Lang Syne

Times Long Past reflects Anne-Marie’s lifelong relationship with art, storytelling, surfing, and connection to place. Each impression is a whisper from the whenua, a mark of what was, and a promise of what may come.

Every mark is a memory pressed into being.

Art is where the invisible becomes visible.

We don’t just draw – we remember.
